What works are taking place at the hotel in 2026?
From mid-January until early summer, the Goodenough Hotel will be undertaking carefully planned heritage restoration works to the front of the building. As a Grade II listed property, we have a responsibility to preserve and maintain the historic fabric of the hotel.
Will the works affect my stay?
The works will be phased and closely managed to ensure there is little impact on guest access, comfort, or enjoyment of Mecklenburgh Square.
Will there be scaffolding on the building?
Yes, scaffolding will be in place at the front of the building while restoration works are carried out. This will not be located near any open guest rooms, and access to the hotel will remain clear and well signposted at all times.
Will there be noise or disruption?
Any potentially disruptive activity will be carefully planned and scheduled to minimise noise. Overall, guests should experience little impact during their stay.
Will all hotel facilities remain open?
Yes. While a small number of rooms will be temporarily closed during the project, hotel facilities and services will continue to operate as normal, with little impact on guest experience. There may be some day-time changes in access, but clear signage will be in place on arrival, and our team will be happy to assist.
Why are some rooms closed during the works?
Closing a small number of rooms allows us to manage the works carefully and safely.
Why are these works being carried out now?
Undertaking restorative works in a timely and proactive way helps us protect this historic building for the future, while keeping any impact on guests to a minimum.
